Insights Into My Journey in Ireland

Unlocking Housing Help

I wish I could bring better news to anyone renting in Ireland, searching for a house or apartment, or planning to move to a different home. Unfortunately, the current situation is far from favourable — putting it mildly.

It has become nearly impossible to find a two-bedroom apartment or house for less than €1,700 here in Galway. Even if you do spot one advertised, securing an appointment for a viewing is extremely challenging, making it almost impossible to be selected as the new tenant.

Over the past two years, I have regularly applied for two-bedroom apartments or houses with a maximum budget of €1,500 in rent. Despite my efforts, I have not received a single appointment for a viewing. In the best-case scenarios, I have been contacted to say, “Thank you for your application,” followed by the explanation that they have received an overwhelming number of inquiries.
